You have just been hired as a Director of Curriculum and Instruction for a relatively large school district. This district employees many instructional facilitators that work in individual schools to serve teachers and students in providing effective instruction. Because of your background with the Danielson Framework for Teaching as well as the Framework for Specialists you have been asked by your Superintendent (aka Boss) to develop an executive summary report for the school board (aka his/her Boss) to help explain the difference between the two models. Just like many school boards your new district’s board is not made up of educators but community members who have been elected to serve. None of them have a background in curriculum and instruction so they are unfamiliar with what effective instruction looks like or how it can be evaluated. They also have no idea what an instructional facilitator is and/or what they do. Therefore the Superintendent feels it is necessary to provide them an overview executive summary document that can help them understand the roles of both types of employees so that when the collective bargaining process for teacher contracts begins and the district looks to establish its methods for the evaluation of teachers and instructional facilitators, the board has a clear understanding of how each are evaluated and their roles. Your report should contain the following: A description of the domains and components of the Framework of Teaching A description of the domains and components of the Framework for Specialists A description of the role of the teacher in the classroom A description of the role of the instructional facilitator in the school building A description of at least three similarities between the two Frameworks A description of at least two differences between the two Frameworks Your document should be written in prose format and use clearly defined headings and sections It must also be of your own design and and in your own words and not a copy and paste of information from various scoring guides and resources The document must also contain hyper links to five web-based resources (none of those provided in the readings and resources can be used) that the board could consult to find out more information The document should be of sufficient length to effectively discuss the topics but not greater than 3 pages in length (not including title pages, resource links or reference pages). You may use an appendix for tables, graphs etc if desired to allow you greater space for your written descriptions.
