Focus on the characters Polonius, Laertes, and Ophelia and consider this family as a foil to Hamlet’s own family (Claudius, Hamlet Sr., Hamlet Jr., and Gertrude). First, define a family value system that each family possesses and concentrate closely on specific values (beliefs, ideas, or practices) that each family possesses. Along these lines, weigh both families against each other and develop a judgment as to which family is more virtuous versus which is more viceful.
