Write an academic book review for one of the two books of their choice that we read over the course of the semester (either Unearthing Conflict or Braiding Sweetgrass). The book review asks students to critically analyze different dimensions of place, environmental violence, and sustainability. An academic book review outlines the primary arguments the author is making in a text, the research and methods used to make those arguments, and concludes with a constructive reflection about how the author’s book contributes to the wider literature. For this review you will
(1) Explain the primary arguments of the book;
(2) Discuss the methods and ethics that the author uses to support those arguments; and
(3) Reflect on the contributions that the book makes to our understanding of environmental conflict and sustainability by integrating at least two different sources from the course materials into the review.
