Discuss whether it is essential for a person to love and take pride in the work they do.

Words: 507
Pages: 2
Subject: Uncategorized

Use TWO as sources:
“Do What You Love” Tony Hawk (handout)
“Work Is a Blessing” Russell Honore (textbook)
“The Busy Trap” (textbook)
“What Makes Us Feel Good About Our Work” Dan Ariely (Ted Talk)
Total = 3 sources ( 2 class sources, 1 source of your own) You need to quote and / or paraphrase each source at least twice= 6 “in-text” reference, sminimum
Also, use at least one additional source of your ownfinding. You may use a personal interviewas a source if you wish, or another article, some statistics /data etc. Yes, if you have an added source and you still want to do an element of personal interview that’s fine. You can have an added ‘written’ source and also use personal interview as a source. Balance out the in-text quotes to still equal 6 (or more if you wish).

**Note: Often I say ‘no first person’ in a position paper, however, I decided that you can include a small amount of first person if you wish, but keep it relatively brief, i.e., a short compelling
example or anecdote used as evidence/ support, if you so choose. Please remember that personal examples are not a substitute for a source. *Don’t let a first-person example turn the essay into a ‘narrative’ essay. Most of the essay should not be in first person, and you may decide not to use a first person example at all. I am allowing for it since I do note people’s personal connection to this theme and so it may enhance your essay if that is the case for you. In that case, it can be useful to include and I encourage you to do so.

This paper will be graded based on the argument components required and must include all MLA conventions and format, including in-text citations and works cited page. (Remember the gray part of our text is an MLA reference guide for all conventions as well as in-text citations and work cited page.) The final 80 points of the paper will be 50 content, 30 presentation
Reminders: Please spend time reviewing our readings carefully so you choose the topic that most interests you. Remember to check back to characteristic features of argument and consider what has been mentioned regarding these elements including authoritative tone (ethical appeal), appeal to values (emotional appeal), good reasons and evidence ( logical appeal).
I say this because I have seen students sometimes change their topic for this theme. My suggestion is work on it over a number of days to see if your topic is working out, if you are happy with sources you intend to use, and if you are finding enough to say etc.
