TIP: MISSION, GOALS, TASKS, AND NEEDS ASSESSMENT ASSIGNMENT
INSTRUCTIONS
Throughout this course, you will develop a Technology Implementation Plan (TIP). The whole
plan must address cultural diversity, special needs, and varying socioeconomic groups within an
educational or training learning environment. Because developing a technology implementation
plan is a large task, you will develop the plan in three parts, submitting selected parts in a
provided template until the project is complete.
In this assignment, you will begin your TIP by putting together a 2-3 page action plan (you can
write more than three pages if your topic requires it) that outlines the mission, goals, major tasks,
and needs assessment involved in your project. You must utilize the International Standards for
Technology Educators (ISTE), the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) guidelines, and the
Technology Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPCK) framework to create this part of the project.
You must show how you will address the needs of diverse learners. Additionally, you must
integrate Scripture and biblical principles throughout the action plan.
The following format might help:
Page 1—
Introduction paragraph: summarize what you have selected for your TIP and why you
chose this need; about 200 words.
Mission Statement: provide a mission statement for your project (if your project is for your
school, it can be your school’s mission statement); about 50 words.
Goals and Major Tasks: Create 2-3 goals, you may have more, that will direct the TIP.
Below each goal, provide 1-2 major tasks that will help you to complete the goals.

Create the SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats—about 1 paragraph for
each).
Address the current strengths of the school/organization for which you are creating the
plan.
Identify areas of weakness or that need improvement.
Describe potential opportunities for growth.
Pinpoint potential threats to the organization or school progress.

Address the Needs Analysis
Describe and analyze the needs that are associated with your instructional problem,
approaching the problem from multiple perspectives (learner, instructor, department,
institution, organization, community, stakeholders, etc.). In addition, you must discuss
the desired overarching outcome and provide a useful, detailed description of the
learner(s) and the learning context.
Overall, summarize your project objective and what steps or actions you need to plan for to make
it a reality. This is your project plan, and it must go beyond simply stating, “This is what I plan

to do.” Instead your project must state, “Here is an overall plan for how I will do this in the next
few weeks.” See the TIP Sample for formatting guidance. The provided TIP Template is to be
used for this assignment and each subsequent assignment for your TIP. It is strongly encouraged
that you move beyond the template—it is a starting point, not a finishing point.
If you cite sources, you must include them in a reference page cited in current APA format.
