NOTES FOR THIS PAPER:
This assignment will be an opportunity for you to be creative, develop ideas by looking at material in a new way, combine different pieces of evidence together to form a cohesive narrative and have a lot of fun as well.
You will be watching the ten videos this week and looking at them as if you were an alien archaeologist who knew some English words, but not necessarily what they mean. You will be viewing them as if they were the last remains of human civilization and you don’t know if they were real or fake. They are all you have to go on.
You are essentially doing what real archeologists do when they are digging up a certain location. After the dig, the archeologists take a look at all the evidence they have whether it be pottery shards or gold treasures and try to reach larger conclusions about the people or societies that left them behind.
Now imagine an alien doing the same thing with The Jerry Springer Show or Monday Night Raw or Romero’s Dead Trilogy.

TEACHER’S INPUT: you are cast into roles of Alien Archaeologists who know some English words but not necessarily what they mean. You also don’t know whether videos were real or fake. You don’t know if they were used for news or entertainment. The Supreme Commander wants a careful analysis that will help him understand what human civilization was like.
Out of the ten videos, use seven of them to create a picture of what human society was like for the Supreme Commander who demands your results in an official report. Make as many specific conclusions and observations as you can. The Supreme Commander wants detailed examples and not simple generalizations. He wants you to create as complete a picture of human society as possible and expects specific examples and references from the videos that will serve as evidence here.
You have a lot of creative freedom here. I encourage you to think outside the box. You may find this essay more challenging than you might think as you are dealing with vastly different pieces of evidence. So enjoy yourselves and create an interesting analysis for the Supreme Commander.
Again, you need to specifically use at least seven different videos as sources. And they must be from the list I give you.
