Papers should be a
literary research analysis of the play Death of a Salesman, viewed through a cultural
or historical lens. The research paper should articulate a cogent argumentative thesis and support
the thesis with an adequate number of appropriately chosen research sources. the research paper must create a specific,
unique, arguable point (i.e. articulate a cogent argumentative thesis) supported by credible
research. A strong, clear thesis
statement. Your paragraphs should have topic sentences that relate to and support that thesis.
You should have an introduction and conclusion paragraph. Your paragraphs should stay on
topic. Your paper should be organized logically. Your ideas and original prose should comprise
the majority of your paper; a good rule of thumb is the 75/25 rule, i.e. 75% of each of your
paragraphs should be your ideas, arguments, and writing and 25% of each paragraph can be the
ideas, arguments, and writing of others. You must support your argument with credible, reliable
outside sources and incorporate that information from outside sources ethically, effectively, and
appropriately using the MLA citation style.
