In this week you’ll be asked to develop a post that speaks to the impact of the “micro” area of social work (individual) for the person in the case example of Perry. This week’s case example will be the case of the group of children in Chapter 3: Stairway to Heaven. (RESOURCE ATTACHED: THE BODY WHO WAS RAISED AS A DOG)
Micro Dimension: The micro dimension focuses on the person individually and clinically and their individual relationships to others. This discussion focuses on interaction of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.
After reading the case example, consider how the impact/effects of the trauma to the individual/s, at the micro dimension, might be expressed physically, emotionally, psychologically, and socially:
– Examples of physical impact – discuss internal well-being (changes in cells and genes, how body systems have been affected, fight/flight/freeze, and so on).
– Examples of emotional impact – reflect on the range of the person’s emotions, ability to express emotions, and so on.
– Examples of psychological impact – describe processing of the trauma, flashbacks, self-esteem, and so on.
– Examples of social impact – consider the person’s ability to cope, communicate, relate to individual family members and friends, and so on.
