Part 1) There are five most commonly recognized individual, couple, and family crisis events: physical illness, mental illness, an extramarital affair, unemployment, substance abuse, and death of a loved one. While many couples or families experience these stressors throughout their lives, not all deal with them well. For this post I want you to select one of the stressors above and reflect on the possible ways that a family can handle such a stressful event. Please describe and discuss one positive and productive strategy to handle your chosen stressor, and one harmful way to respond to it. In your discussion, please focus on the family as a unit rather than on individual family members’ responses.
