Project Management Tool #1:
Using the final Developed Project from the MS Projects Assignment:
o Research the Project Management tools currently popular (you may choose to select a tool that
provides free use to college students)
o Please see the Project Management tools summary page with this assignment, it is a
great reference
o Implement your final Developed Project from the MS Projects Assignment in the selected tool.
Each Project Management tool is different, and some tools will not be as comprehensive as MS
Projects.
o In MS Projects, we focused on:
▪ Tasks, sub-tasks, and work packages
▪ Task durations
▪ Activity precedence relationships
▪ WBS numbering system
▪ Milestones
▪ Resource assignment
o Implement as many of these aspects as the tool has.
Deliverable Project Management Tool #1:
o Create a PPT or Word Document from screenshots of your Project Management tool and
project. Explain the images.
o Create a bulleted list of the aspects you like of this Project Management tool.
o Create a bulleted list of the aspects you do not like of this Project Management tool.
o Finish with Lessons Learned, what did you learn from these steps in the process?
o Include: Course, Assignment (and Step), Professor, Your Name
Project Management Tool #2:
Select a second Project Management Tool and repeat the same steps in Project Management Tool #1.
Deliverable Project Management Tool #2:
o Create a PPT or Word Document from screenshots of your Project Management tool and
project. Explain the images.
o Create a bulleted list of the aspects you like of this Project Management tool.
o Create a bulleted list of the aspects you do not like of this Project Management tool.
Section #2:
Evaluate and compare the 3 Project Management tools you have used. (1 is MS Projects, and 2 you
selected)
Deliverable Section #2:
o You are a Project Manager and a member of a larger Project Management team that is
determining what Project Management software they would like to use for their IT492 (Senior
Design 1) and IT493 (Senior Design 2) courses
o This is a writing to communicate document that can be used to decide on a project
management application
o Write a review paper that can be used by your IT Capstone team of students to make
this decision.
▪ Reference principles of project management in their response.
o Include diagrams and graphs when informative. You may use images from deliverable
#1.
▪ You may use the reports created from the data you have entered. For example,
Recourse management reports, Task, sub-task and work packages, Milestones,
and Cost reports.
Section #3:
o Finish with Lessons Learned, what did you learn from these steps in the process?
REQUIREMENTS:
o Cover Page in APA Format.
o Citations in APA Format.
o Minimum length is 1500 words.
o Title the sections of your report.
o Include Captions on all figures.
o Number figures numerical in order presented.
o Include a screenshot of your word count prior to your Citations page
