The Culture Pamphlet:
The culture pamphlet should include culturally specific information pertaining to prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum and newborn care. It should be concise and have information for fellow professionals to be able to provide culturally sensitive care.
. Each group of students will choose a specific culture that is frequently encountered in the various hospitals around the metropolitan area.

• Hispanic
• White
• Other
The pamphlet will address culturally relevant information and evidence-based care pertaining to prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum and newborn care. The information should include diet, beliefs about certain foods and the effect on the pregnancy and fetus/newborn. Also, include any superstitions or rituals pertaining to the pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum and newborn. The labor and delivery, and postpartum component should include information about pain management, role of the father, role of other family members, use of hot and cold foods. The newborn section should include cultural beliefs related to the care of the newborn, bathing the baby, circumcision, umbilical cord care, feeding, visitors, superstitions, religious ceremonies, and naming of the baby; male vs. female.
Please follow APA format (The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association). All material that is not the students’ own work must be cited in the pamphlet. Please check the spelling and grammar before submitting. The pamphlet should include evidence-based practice. References must be a part of the pamphlet (in APA format)
The grade is based upon the following criteria to receive a passing grade for this clinical assignment.
Prenatal information as described above: 20%
Intrapartum and Postpartum information as described above 30%
Newborn information as described above: 20%
Evidence-based information should be a part of at least one of those four areas: 10%
APA format, correct citation, grammar, spelling, and appearance of the pamphlet: 20%
