Picture yourself as a newly hired X-ray department manager in a regional health care system. During your first few weeks of conversations with employees, you notice an undertone of fatigue and frustration and you notice productivity dropping. What steps can you take to identify the causes of this low engagement, and how might you go about improving the climate of your workplace?
This situation is solved using our previous knowledge in this class. We first need to understand what the issue is. Once we know what the issue is, we can begin to plan a way to solve the issue. Once there is a good plan and understanding of what is going to resolve it, we will need to create certain measures to ensure this hopefully doesn’t continue to be an issue, maybe in the form of an EAP or a wellness program if it’s needed. Then after some time, follow up with the employees to gain their feedback on the new system in place to keep them from getting drained of energy more quickly. Then if any alterations need to occur, this is where as a manager you would need to alter their plans to help them in their current situation.
