Compose a study on the impact of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) on the world’s food supply.Write a short term paper, 5 typed pages in length, on a topic of interest to the student, illustrating a particular question related to food, diet, or the environment, and the different choices the issue presents. The student will give a brief statement of the problem, the arguments for and against the possible choices, and make a choice of which is the best option in the student’s opinion, based on the information found through research in the literature (actual published literature, not crackpot web sites).
Each topic must be approved in advance by either Prof. Liu or Prof. Brady.
We welcome in-person discussions of your choice of topic, but we also require that you send both Prof. Liu and Prof. Brady an email about your choice, even if you have received verbal approval, so that we will have a record of approval when grading.
The papers should have a bibliography of the literature consulted which will not count toward the page limit.
This bibliography must include at least 5 published sources (i.e., books or scholarly articles, and in general, not web pages).
The term papers will be due on March 19th and are also worth 25% of your final grade.
Remember, no AI programs or tools such as ChatGPT can be used for this term paper.
Those found to be using ChatGPT or similar AI tools will receive a grade of 0.
