Students will choose one of two sample case studies (Leyla and Maria) to formulate detailed case conceptualizations of the client’s lived experiences that addresses the following:
Highlight demographics from the ADDRESSING framework/model (Hays, 2008), that you believe are impacting the client’s mental wellbeing and functioning. https://www.ohio.edu/cas/psychology/diversity/addressing-model
Refer to Lenz and Litam (2023) Figure 2 on page 423 to detail the client’s biological indicators, psychological factors, and sociocultural influences, and the specific etiological, maintenance, and mitigating variables.
Analyze the client’s identity development utilizing a specific model (i.e., racial identity development model, gender identity development model, etc.). What stage do you believe they are experiencing and how do you know this?
Identify implications the conceptualization has for the relationship between the individual and the clinician.
Detail appropriate treatment goals and interventions informed by the case conceptualization and existing research. Cite at least three peer-reviewed sources.
Discuss own potential feelings, biases, strengths, and blind spots in working with this individual resulting from your own identities and/or experiences. What steps can you take to continually engage in cultural humility?
Refer to the grading rubric to inform the content and structure of your work.
