My topic is on why English literature should be taught in schools. My kairos comes from completeing years of English literature classes. The instructor mentioned that would be good to mention in the introduction. The three main perspectives I want to be argued, is that English Literature aids in historical awareness, cultural development, and cognitive development. Include a sentence or two about having faith in an education system or something along those lines. He was pretty flexible with how we incorporate faith and doubt into this essay. Please help.
Rubric from teacher:
The DISSOI LOGOI is the logic/reasoning exercise that we structure the class around, designed to hone in on a student’s capacity for rhetorical analysis and argumentation. This final product should:
-Follow the rubric uploaded under FILES
-Be 8-10 Pages, double spaced 12 point font, Times New Roman or something similar.
-Include an introduction and conclusion, no more than a page for each.
-Have 3-4 Arguments, sides, or viewpoints on the issue you are discussing, each equally well-researched and articulated.
-Connect in some way to the class theme of faith and doubt, even on a small scale.
-Have a works cited page (not included in the page count) with your sources listed Alphabetically according to MLA standards.
-Have a structure that a reader can follow, with clear direction and flow of ideas.
IT SHOULD NOT
-Have a thesis statement that argues one side over the others
-Feel biased towards any particular viewpoint overall
-Just regurgitate sources but instead discuss them in conversation with each other.
