Google Slides Lab: Story of a Gold Atom
Gold is precious metal, valued throughout human history for its luster and durability. Gold is rare—less than one in a billion atoms in the universe is a gold atom. Even more remarkable than its rarity is the story of gold’s cosmic origins. Your job is to write a brief report or story about the life of a gold atom. Start with a hydrogen atom or single proton, then describe a plausible history that includes the creation of gold from lighter elements, and then the story of the gold atom until the point it comes into human hands. Divide the report roughly 2/3 into the time up to the creation of the gold atom, and 1/3 since its creation up to the present day. You can include
the life of more than one star in your narrative, and it can be written in
either first or the third person.
