Assignment : For this week’s lab, you are to discuss how the various sociological articles from Modules 7&8 define and
operationalize (e.g., how sociologists turn abstract concepts into measurable social phenomenon) male domination.
Instructions : Modules 7&8 include various readings (Tichenor, Cavanagh et al., and Munsch, respectively) that provide sociological examinations of male domination–including various definitions and ways of measuring & observing how male domination shows up in the lives of (heterosexual) women. For this lab, you are to accomplish the following:
Discuss how each of the articles theorizes male domination: for each article, include a discussion of the authors’ definition and how they are observing / measuring it. Include empirical evidence or examples from the (3) articles that capture how this phenomenon shows up in the lives of (heterosexual) women.
Discuss similarities and differences across the (3) articles: What do these different sociological approaches to male domination have in common? How are they different?
Discuss how & why the topic of male domination is sociologically releveant, particularly for scholars of family & marriage: Why should sociologists care about power dynamics in marriages, intimate partner violence, or infidelity? What is the link between male domination and gender inequality, especially in the context of (heterosexual) marriage?
Guidelines:
Word limit MINIMUM of 750 words (the 3 sections should be roughly the same, or 250 words each).

Reference the 3 articles included for Modules 7&8 (see below), the definitions they provide, the way the authors use these concepts, and the empirical evidence they provide. You may also consult the sociology encyclopedias included below for concept clarification; if/when used, please cite.
Limit your use of direct quotes to ONE per section (3 total MAX). If/when you use a quote, an explanation of its relevance and/or context is necessary. Successfully paraphrasing / summarizing scholarly articles is a skill you must hone in this course.
