Unit Outline Description:
The personal leadership legacy statement is a short 500-word reflective statement about your own personal ambitions and aspirations for leadership. What skills and experiences do you already have that help your own your journey to developing as a successful leader? How have your experiences of crisis shaped your views on what makes a good leader during a time of crisis? What kind of leader do you want to be when you graduate? How do you plan to develop your skills to become a leader who is crisis-prepared? This should be a personal and reflective story that is informed by the content in the first three weeks of the unit and these stories and approaches covered in the videos and in the first LPC Live event in Week 1.
Format of the assessment:
The personal leadership legacy statement assessment is comprised of two sections:
Leadership Legacy Statement (100 words)
Craft a concise statement that encapsulates your personal leadership legacy. This should include:
A clear articulation of the core values that form the foundation of your leadership legacy.
A vision of your unique leadership style and skills.
Insights into how you plan to engage with followers and stakeholders.
Your strategies for being prepared for crises.
A reflective commentary on how you developed your Leadership Legacy Statement (400 words)
Provide a reflective commentary on your Leadership Legacy Statement. This commentary should weave in a detailed examination of how your personal experiences and the concepts, theories, readings and discussions from the first three weeks of the course (Week 1, Week 2 and Week 3), as well as insights from the first LPC Live session (Week 1), have shaped your understanding of your leadership style and of strategies for being a crisis-prepared leader.
Your commentary should not only reflect a personal journey but also demonstrate how the course content has deepened your leadership insights. Be sure to accurately and consistently reference unit materials and readings to support your analysis.
Note: clear communication is a key leadership skill. You may use images where suitable to support your reflection.
