First you should read the article “Why Study History?” by Peter Stearns which is linked on Blackboard. Next you should look at any of the major news sites or apps- such as CNN.com, the New York Times, USA Today, or a local newspaper such as the McAllen Monitor or The Brownsville Herald. Select one recent article and read it carefully. (The article you select should be dated after November 1, 2023). Then write a short synopsis of the article and explain how a knowledge of the history helps us to understand the event, or issue discussed in the article.
