Let’s pick up where we left off more or less on Wednesday. In class, it seemed like the overall claim was that it is impossible to move beyond the reach of ideology. That is, there are no individuals that can escape ideology altogether. The question, then, is: Do you think this is true? Are we forever under the spell of one ideology or another? Why or why not?
You should do two things in this discussion:
1. Offer an answer to the question above. Write at least 100 words.
2. Comment on at least one other student’s answer to the above question. Write at least 75 words. You might, for instance, agree and add something else to a peer’s account, which may involve simply repeating your own answer and remarking how it is subtly different from the answer you are commenting on. You might also disagree in a respectful way. You might also elaborate on a new idea your peer’s answer inspires in you.
other student’s answer:
I think this is true because an ideology is a common belief or idea that a group of people believe. Different countries and cultures have different ideologies, which shape their societal norms and values. We should know that all of our educational systems is directly or indirectly designed to align with the ideology of our country to form our value. Whether we aware of it or not, we are forever under the spell of one ideology. Our sense of patriotic psychology and national identity is from this ideology. Besides, different social media platforms are usually under the control of government and will potential express the ideology to reinforce our existing beliefs.
