Describe in a research paper what the first step is in designing a resume.PART 1 Professional Advancement and Development
1.) Find at least five online sources that will help with your future professional development. Three sources must be specifically related to your area of study. These might be sources to further your professional development such as certifications, scholarships, grants, internships, professional organizations, mentoring opportunities, service opportunities such as the Peace CorpsLinks to an external site., Teach for AmericaLinks to an external site., AmeriCorpsLinks to an external site..
3.) Pinpoint the top program, opportunity, or service you can participate in to develop your profession. Include the following as they apply:
introduction of the program, etc.
what advantage the source would have for you
how you would use the source / what preparation is needed to take advantage for the source
admission requirements
contact information
deadlines
submission material
costs and fees
time constraints (how will you fit this into your regular schedule)
other pertinent information
4.) Create a personal timeline of activities to prepare for this opportunity.
5.) Write a reflection paragraph (at least five sentences) focusing on your insights about your exploration.
Part 2: Your Resume

Information About Resumes
There are different types of resumes. Two are listed below:
The chronological resume has educational and employment history organized by date. This resume works well for students who have progressive and related experiences within their field.
Functional resumes focus on skill sets gained through a variety of activities, such as educational course work, clubs and organizations, as well as internships and volunteer work. This format works well for students who do not have much employment history or who have a work history that is not directly related to their career objective.
Some Pointers on Headings:

Which heading goes first on your resume completely depends on your audience. If you’re applying to graduate school, which would they rather see first? Educational accomplishments or work history? Most likely your educational accomplishments.
Perhaps you should re-envision the subheading you use in your resume. We’ve all heard the obvious: Objective, Experience, Education. But you’re interdisciplinary students, you don’t do the obvious – you think outside the box. So, let’s take your resume there, too. Feel free to be a little more creative with the terms you use for your headings, just make sure they make sense to your audience as well.
The choices you make for headings could help make the difference between filling versus padding your resume. Look back at what you produced in the Formal and Informal Education assignment and think about “relevant” experience. If you’re applying for a job that requires global sales, communicating across cultures, or has travel requirements, perhaps you should have a heading that highlights any travel experience you’ve had. If the job requires leadership skills, think about any sports you’ve played and when you’ve had an opportunity to lead the team. Or if you’ve done theater or film, when have you been involved with directing or producing? That’s leadership, too.
