Each participant in the course is expected to develop one in-depth lesson plan. The lesson plan will reflect and understanding of student backgrounds, interest and needs. Candidates will describe the conditions that will be considered when planning and delivering the lesson, the rational for the lesson, understanding of the content and the learning objectives or goals for the lesson. The lesson plan will emphasize the use of language (both language objectives and academic language) as well as assessment in the process of learning (formative assessment) and the product of learning (summative assessment).
The lesson plan will be completed in parts throughout the course based on the Lesson Plan Design Frame (LPDF) that is provided for you in this syllabus and then subsequently submitted as a completed lesson plan. There will be three components of this lesson plan assignment as follows:
Lesson Plan Part 1 Context for Learning, Lesson Rationale, and Content Standards
Lesson Plan Part 2 (Content Information, Learning Objectives (Established Goals), Language Objectives, Academic Language, Formative Assessment)
