*I ordered this paper and I feel like the writer did a good job however I want the paper to be more of an argumentative paper. I want to take the stance that in the absence of ableism, disability is just a mere difference. I want my point to be argued in part one and there to be an example of a disability to illustrate my understanding. My argument should be seen throughout the paper while still presenting information and engaging with views I disagree with. The writer did a good job with presenting information just not making an argument throughout.Review the requirements carefully and fully implement them while also implementing my request.
Question 2 – Disability and Medicine (70-points) This question requires you to consider the nature of disability, the relationship between disability and well-being and an autonomous life, and how disability is considered part of medical practice and research. Disability has historically been thought of as a medical condition of the body that needs to be cured, rehabilitated, or otherwise treated by medical means. However, the disability rights movement and many philosophers of disability have challenged that assumption. What is at issue is the relationship between disability, non-disability, well-being, and the options needed to live an autonomous life and what that means for thinking about medical practice and research.
Part 1: Based on our readings and discussions, especially those of Barnes, Crawley, and other materials, explain the complicated relationship between disability and human flourishing and/or well-being. In the absence of ableism, is disability a neutral condition or just a mere difference? Or is disability harmful, to some degree, even in the absence of ableism? While making your case, please use an example of one disability to illustrate and explain the theories we have been studying. Make sure to present your argument in light of our readings and engage with views you disagree with while illustrating your ideas.
Part 2: Based on what you said in Part 1, how should medical research and practice respond to disability-related issues? In answering this question, I want you to consider using technology to “cure” or “overcome “impairment or whether medicine’s traditional response to disability ought to be rethought in light of a more reflective philosophical analysis of disability and its evaluation. Should, for example, social policy focus more on changing the world or on changing a person through medical interventions? Use a specific disability or two to help illustrate your ideas. In answering this question, you must defend your answer based on our readings and class materials. Thus, you must consider the relationship between disability, non-disability, and a good life. While you must discuss the authors mentioned above, you may rely on any other materials we learned to make your case. You must provide an argument or reasons and evidence that support your conclusion in answering this question. You must also demonstrate that you have read and understand our readings and use our readings and class materials to help you reach your philosophical conclusion. Your conclusions’ political acceptability is irrelevant to how I assess your grade.
