It doesn’t need to be perfectly edited nor does it need a Works Cited sheet though it does need correct in-text citations (I want to know where your information comes from). While I don’t expect this essay to be polished like Essays 1, 2 and 3, it should show your skill at building a college essay and include: o a great introduction with a clear thesis that expresses your opinion o developed body paragraphs with focused topic sentences, detailed evidence and analysis, o smooth use of authoritative sources to support your claims. Remember too that a good, college essay has: a hook that establishes rapport with your reader and makes him or her want to read on, some background information and a crystal-clear thesis. Then, of course, you will need at least two body paragraphs that begin with a topic sentence that echoes the thesis and controls the paragraph; the body paragraph should be filled with evidence and analysis to back up the topic sentence claim. And last but not least, you’ll need a conclusion with very little summary (a paraphrase of the thesis would suffice) and then a relevant refelction and interesting parting thought which, like the hook, could be a personal story.
