Assignment Question
You have recently been appointed as a policy officer for a prominent cancer charity in your country. You have been asked to put forward a policy brief to the new Minister of health to articulate a new policy framework for cancer prevention and care – ensuring it is person-centred, addresses existing inequalities and enhances equity. The minister has asked that you build a series of recommendations that they can consider in developing their new cancer strategy. Specifically, they want you to offer no more than five key priority areas to address and offer policy proposals for.
In writing your brief, please address the following questions: What is the state of play in cancer currently in your country, and what are the areas that need improvement? (draw on local data where available) What are key contextual factors you need to take into consideration in implementing them? What could the role of digital health be in helping you achieve these aims? Which stakeholders need to be engaged to deliver on these recommendations?
Your brief should not exceed 2500 words, excluding references and executive summary. Your recommendations should build on what already exists in terms of cancer policy documents and global references. Be sure to support any facts and figures you include with appropriate references and draw from relevant conceptual frameworks where appropriate.
