Answer this prompt in paper format (full sentences, paragraphs, punctuation, etc.). Essay response must be AT LEAST 500 words. Poems must be 1 page in length. Need to be submitted as Anything less will receive deduction in points. Essays must be in Chicago Citation Format, using footnotes from lectures and Harjo’s book. For this assignment we are going to be reading the book “An American Sunrise” by U.S. poet laureate Joy Harjo. Harjo is a Native American author and member of the Muscogee Nation (sometimes referred to as “Creek”). During your reading of the book I want you to think about how poetry can be used as a form of telling history. Answer each of the following questions in paragraph format: What are the benefits of poetry as history? What are its limitations? What is Harjo’s main focus in this book? What history is she telling? What stands out to you?
