Assignment Question
Write a 7-page, double-spaced, paper in which they employ their favorite theory or perspective in analyzing their own personalities. The paper should use the theory to explain the development and maintenance, as well as the nature, of their personalities. Papers should include at least the following: 1. Brief summary of the student’s favorite theory or perspective.
2. General description of the student’s personality (including strong and weak points) and life history, including a brief description of the student’s family, neighborhood, etc. 3. General description of the significant events in the student’s life that had an impact on the student’s personality, including positive as well as negative events, and a description of how those events changed the student’s life.
4. General description of who were the most important people in the student’s life and how these people may have affected the student’s personality.
5. General description of possible genetic effects on the student’s personality (e.g. personality traits that seem to be passed down from grandparents or parents, or which seem to be shared with siblings).
6. General description of how culture may have affected the student’s personality.
7. General description of what the theory or theorist says about whether the student can change aspects of his/her personality and how. Papers will be due at the end of class on the date indicated on the Class Schedule. Students may elect to submit their papers as a Word attachment in an email to the instructor. The deadline for electronic submission is midnight on the due date. Students attending class will have the opportunity to discuss their papers during class and make final edits before submitting their papers electronically. Papers will account for 25% of the final grade.
