Capstone Paper Outline Part 1: APA Formatted Title Page Your capstone should start with an APA formatted title page including all the required information. Part 2: Content Requirement A. Introductory Information a) Explain the significance of the problem supported by literature. b) Select, identify and relate a QSEN Nurse Competency to your research question. Use the link to QSEN institute https://qsen.org/competencies/pre-licensure-ksas/ c) Include your problem statement/research question (PICOT) (Highlight in bold) B. Literature Review a) Using a minimum 5 references from peer reviewed journal articles written within the last 5 years create a thematic literature review. b) Analyze the literature, identifying and creating themes, and synthesize information from your five sources. c) Relate the problem to an QSEN competency identified in the introduction. d) Use APA level heading to organize the themes C. Case Example a) The case example must 1) exemplify the problem statement/research question and 2) be related to the identified QSEN competency. b) The case example should describe the patient condition, disease(s), clinical issues, medications, nursing care, etc. c) Apply the transition theory by Meleis, as cited in IM (2010) to the case study, a handout for the Transition Theory can be found on Blackboard. Answer the following questions: · What transition(s) is the patient in? · What are the facilitators and inhibitors? · What is or was the patient’s response? · What was the nursing intervention? D. Implications Integrate nursing implications from your literature review and relate them to your patient’s problem. Include implications in the three areas under different subheadings in bold a) Implications for Practice: What is the best nursing practice for this issue? b) Implications for Nursing Education: What are the current guidelines for educating nurses, patients/families about care for this problem? c) Implications for Research: What are the priorities for further study (from a nursing perspective) related to this problem? Part 4: Reference Page Include an APA formatted reference page with all sources cited in the paper. The reference page should be separate from the main body. A minimum of 8 references should be used including the QSEN Institute and the Transition Theory.
