Background on systems
General systems theory (GST), as articulated by Ludwig von Bertalanffy (1968) as a systems approach, is usually regarded as the cornerstone of organizational growth in terms of management theory. It conceives of the organization as an open system composed of the interconnected and interdependent subsystem. General systems theory seeks to find and comprehend the universal principles applying to all systems. This theory aims to describe phenomena as processes. The author claimed that systems arise as a result of a variety of processes that act in concert to build the organism. In this approach, an object or phenomenon should be regarded holistically as a collection of elements interacting as a system.
