One of the most controversial aspects of the Tate/LaBianca murders was punishment of the guilty. Although sentenced to death in 1971, Charles Manson went on to live a long life, dying from natural causes at age 83 in 2017. Owing to the death penalty being struck down in California the next year, Manson and his followers were instead sentenced to life with parole. Do you believe Charles Manson would be a martyr or as famous as he became if he was executed decades ago? Why or why not?
