As we near the close of our first Module, it’s important that we think about the take-aways from it and how we want to improve for the second one.
Module 1 covered five main writing skills: the Writing Process, the Thesis Statement/Central Claim, Introductions, Paragraphing, and Incorporating Texts. Choose two of these skills and describe how you use the information in the course shell to help you work on that skill. Be specific, what information from a video or linked resources did you use and how did you try to apply it?
How successful do you feel like you were at deploying that skill? Any ideas on how you might continue to grow in mastering that writing skill?
What about the other writing skills? How well do you think you incorporated them into your work and where do you think you could grow?
Did you feel like you already know about these topics before coming to those pages? Be honest, were you open to the materials and possibly learning something new or did you skip over them? Don’t give me the answer you think I want to hear, this should be an honest reflection!
If you skipped over them, how might you not be engaged with the process of inquiry? Even if those pages just confirm what you already know, it’s more information that you take into the process of inquiry and confirm your own understanding, so even if for that alone it could be worth it! Do you agree or disagree?
Beyond the writing skills, what else do you think you might need to work on when it comes to the final draft of the first paper of the semester? You could also discuss how you plan to revise (not edit) your first draft and the impact you think those changes will have on your final product.
Your response should be a minimum of 500 words. Include the word count at the end.
