The paper can be on any health topic ex( covid, hiv, obesity , etc!!! Hey folks here is the template that you need to follow for your mass media news article research paper. This paper is meant for you to sociologically analyze a mass media news article using social concepts/theories while implementing peer reviewed research findings. You need to apply a peer reviewed research findings 5 times throughout the paper 1) after your substantive importance statement, 3 of the 5 application paragraphs must have a peer reviewed research finding cited, finally you must have a peer reviewed research finding cited to support your 5) policy implication statement in your conclusion. Therefore, you need 5 separate peer reviewed research articles cited…you can NOT cite the same article 5 times. It is -10 points for each and every time you do NOT cite a peer reviewed research finding when you need to.
Use section subheadings for clarity. Follow this to an exact…in fact, use this document and fill in the sub-headings if you like.
You do need a cover page, but you do NOT need an abstract or running header. I am NOT concerned with that really.
On your cover page put: your name, class (SOCY 2000), then Critical Thinking paper.

Critical Thinking Paper
Introduction Paragraph
Warm me up to the paper here. That is, introduce the topic of the paper. You need to tell me what the paper is going to do/analyze. That is, what health problem are you going to analyze? How are you going analyze this health topic (state the 5 theories/social concepts here)? You also need to tell me a substantive importance statement. This is basically, a statement telling me why it is important to explore/analyze this health topic. Then you need to support your substantive importance statement with a peer reviewed research finding. That is, find a peer reviewed research study finding that coincides with your substantive importance statement. Finally, I need to know what the paper is about/consists of. Be very direct and clear here. I should NOT have to read one word beyond the introduction paragraph to know what I am about to read in this paper.

Conclusion Paragraph
Here you can rehash your main points of the paper for the reader. What does all this mean? Give a bottom line statement and you can also mention a take away statement (like, where do we go from here statement for the reader). But, you need a policy implication statement. Meaning, what laws, policies, and/or regulations/deregulations should be made? You need to cite a peer reviewed research finding to support your policy implication…this is the 5th and final time you cite a peer reviewed research article.
References page
You do need to cite any sources or thoughts that are NOT yours. Make sure you have a separate references page at the end of the paper. Any idea or thought that is NOT yours you MUST give credit to.
