Instructions
Read Churchill’s fourth chapter, “First Phase of Data Analysis.” Then, in working with descriiptive data, I strongly suggest you download and begin getting acquainted with the data now, because data analysis is not “quick & easy”; instead, it requires “dwelling” with the data to get a sense of it and inquiring over time.
In working with the model data, you will:
1. Read for a sense of the whole descriiption,
2. Divide the data into meaning units
3. Use free imaginative variation to transform each meaning unit, in order to arrive at a more essential psychological meaning
Please use the template (posted in the course shell) to show your meaning units and data transformation. The template is a table: In the first column (from the left) please list each of your meaning units. In the second column, show your transformations of each meaning unit. The third column is provided in case you see that the data can be transformed further. When you complete the assignment, you will not seek to arrive at a psychological structure (“essence”) because that step requires multiple descriiptions.
