In discussing this essay question, will have to
demonstrate an understanding of the term ‘humanitarian
intervention’ and examine its origins. More specifically, will have to:
• explain what humanitarian intervention is;
• what explains its rise to prominence in the post-Cold
war era;
• make a case for or against it.
