Do you agree or disagree with the idea expressed in the quote? Is it consistent with your understanding of the Western mindscape and how it works? Are values expressed in quote consistent with one or both of the world views described in video? Is this how you understand what it means to be successful? What it means to feel like you have power (whether personal power or social power) in your life? What it means to be a mature person?
Be sure your response addresses the issues raised by the Rama and Arjuna stories, as well as the Pattanaik video, as you consider the differences between the Hindu and Western Mindscapes’ views on power (and perhaps your own mindscape, as well, if it differs from these). Be sure you make connections with this and other lecture mod content.
[For instance, do you find yourself switching between the two persectives (world views) mentioned in video depending upon the situation, who you are with, and your particular values? How does thinking about people as objects influence your ideas about power, about what is or is not okay to do and why. How does your understanding of power differ in these differing perspectives. Think about perspective/world view of worker described in video vs world view of her employer. Do people dehumanize others to rationalize exercising power over them? Other takes would also work.
