The Physical Activity Guidelines for Older Adults tell us that we should be maintaining our physical activity as we age. Staying active dramatically increases our chances of living independently and reduces our risk of chronic diseases. Regular physical activity is critical for both young children as well as adolescents. In Question 1, address both of the following:
1. First, discuss the incidence of chronic diseases among older adults and identify two (2) common chronic diseases impacting older adults. Second, discuss what role exercise can play in reducing the risk of chronic diseases, in particular, sarcopenia.
