1. Summarize the data in the spreadsheet (attached) in Drive called 213 CHILDES data for assignment 22a using neat, appropriately labeled bar or line graphs of means to capture the key information. (Since we are only interested in general patterns across ages and have widely varying sample sizes, we will not be using fancier statistics such as confidence intervals, standard errors, or tests of significance.)2. As you know, we are interested in growth of MLU in the 1-5 year age range in monolingual children (here, all North American English speaking) and in bilingual children when they are speaking one of their languages. Questions to address based on your graphs include the following (separately for the monolingual and bilingual children, followed by a comparison of the two groups):Does child mean MLU increase systematically with age? Do the means fit with the published MLU data we saw? How does mother mean MLU compare to the children’s? Bonus question that requires a different use of the data and type of graph: Does individual child MLU appear to be related to mother MLU?3. Propose an additional question about language development that CHILDES could be used to answer. Indicate briefly how the CHILDES database could be used to address the question.
