Select one of the topics below related to children in crisis: Shaken Baby Syndrome My topic of choice is: Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Research the topic by locating and reading at least three research journal articles on the topic. You must select scholarly articles. Scholarly articles come from professional journals and are typically written by persons with a Ph.D. or Ed.D. If you are struggling with locating scholarly articles, a Regent librarian can further assist. Write a report. The report should adhere to the style requirements of the American Psychological Association (6th Ed.), and should not exceed 6 pages of text, excluding references. Your paper should be written using APA format which includes a title page, proper headings, in-text citations, and a reference section. The Regent University Writing Center offers excellent online resources to help you with APA. The report should be designed as a “problems analysis” and organized as follows: Introduction (1 page): Precise, unambiguous, and logically related to the problem. Define and/or summarize the problem you are addressing. Explain, in detail, how this topic raises concerns about safe and healthy practices when working with children. Research Findings (2-3 pages): Thorough, rigorous review and synthesis of research (with a particular focus on empirical research) related to the problem. Conclusions (1-2 pages). Logical, practical, realistic approach for dealing with the identified problem as supported by the research findings. Discuss your thoughts on why these findings are important to early childhood professionals and how they should deal with the identified problem if discovered/occurred in the early child care setting. Discuss what Christians are currently doing to prevent this problem and what more we might do.
