Essay Prompt: The essay will consist of a critical analysis* of three passages from three separate Baldwin texts. The quoted passages should be around 2-4 sentences in length. First, find two passages where Baldwin explains why America has so many issues with race. Then find one passage where Baldwin explains what America can do to solve its racial problems. As you analyze all of the passages, explore how the specific quote you are talking about answers whichever question you want it to answer from the two questions above.
In addition, explain whether or not the things he points out about America in these passages still ring true today. Also be sure to explain why you think they do ring true or why you think they do not ring true.
