Part 2: Together, the readings and video for this post explore how the identity and professional standards of a profession are envisioned in ways that are not fixed, but rather that change over time and that individual practitioners play a role in articulating. As such, the communication of professional identity is always also an articulation and re-articulation of professional identity, and one that you will be involved in throughout your career.
1. Using examples from 3 different readings/video, what are specific ways that the identity of a profession is articulated and re-articulated over time? Who or what plays a role in communicating and articulating what a profession is?
2. Choose 1 of the 2 videos. What does this video suggest needs to change about the profession it deals with? How specifically does it propose or consider doing so? Overall, what vision is communicated about the professions purpose/function, its value, and what it means to excel in it?
