PART 1
A Functional Resume
A resume objective is most commonly used as an opener to a Functional resume. This is the best resume format for job seekers who have just returned to the workforce or have limited work experience. A functional resume, sometimes called a skill-based resume, places the focus on your skills and areas of expertise rather than on the details of your work history. Instead of listing your recent jobs and corresponding duties in reverse chronological order ( like you would do in a chronological resume), you select only the most relevant responsibilities from each of your past roles and compile them to paint a picture of your skill set. The difference is that the body of a functional resume highlights your most important skills such as ” administrative experience” or ” customer service” with three to five bullet points that show how you’ve applied these skills in various roles.
The reason why I decided to go with a functional resume format is because of the skills I have acquired from my previous professions. I have never worked in the medical field, therefore, I can’t say in my resume that I have any previous medical experience from my past jobs. But, I can put all the skills and certain experiences that I have acquired from my previous jobs. I worked in retail and in fast food. therefore, I have acquired handling, processing, and especially communication skills. I personally feel like the skills that I have acquired from my previous professions can help me improve tremendously when I do step into the medical field.
Overall, I enjoyed reading section 10 of my Grammer and Health skills for Health Professionals online textbook about objectives, promotional writing, and different forms of resumes. Hopefully, everyone enjoyed reading my response to this topic. I also hope that you find my references informative and helpful to get a better understanding of my perspective on my resume choice. I am looking forward to reading your responses and the questions you might have.

PART 2
Applying for my first job here in the United States I picked the chronological resume, and since then I’ve been using this format to apply for jobs since getting out of the military. Chronological resume lists your work history experience in reverse chronological order, and then distributes your accomplishments to each job in which they occurred. The chronological resume uses your accomplishments to back up your skills. I would say chronological resumes are much easier on the readers eyes due to breaking up the texts for a much easier way of scanning your resume. The first part of your employment history will show your current employer, and you will be able to easily tell the order of your work history, shows the dates and will be able to scan each of your work experience (Doyle, 2022).
