The purposes of this report are to: Recommend ways to increase unit communication channels Recommend ways to boost unit morale Determine Soldiers views on current unit communication Recommend solutions to increase unit mission readiness A questionnaire was conducted among the ranks in the unit to gauge how the unit’s Soldiers felt in regards to: Communication at the team level Communication with battalion leadership Desire to come to work Unit readiness Trust with battalion leadership A total of 82 individuals responded to the survey. Findings and conclusions Most survey respondents agreed that communication, unit morale, and unit readiness are issues within the unit. Many of the respondents stated that they have never actually had a conversation with the battalion commander or the battalion command sergeant major. A common theme among the Soldiers surveyed was the lack of unit events that included everyone in the battalion. The results of this survey show that more battalion leadership participation is needed to form a bond of trust between leadership, and the Soldiers of the unit. Recommendations for increasing communication and leadership participation Recommendations for increasing unit communication and battalion leadership participation include but are not limited to: Unit morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR) events Sports physical training (PT) once a week Strong bonds trips set up by the chaplain More events catering to single soldiers living in the barracks Family day/early release More Soldier and family readiness groups (SFRG) events
