This is for personal statement for common app. Topic of choice (with details) …nI had a freak accident my junior year and I almost died. I spent 5 days in the first hospital and was misdiagnosed and got much worse…that hospital almost killed me… Was finally rushed to 2nd hospital for emergency surgery/spent several weeks in the hospital and had a major surgery to remove part of my pancreas and my spleen. I also lost a kidney. Very long recovery process, which was humiliating at times. Example I could not go bathroom or shower by myself for weeks/months. 2nd hospital saved my life, amazing surgery team and nurses. Got home, had a complication…had to go back to hospital for another week. Had 3 tubes in my body for 2 months and several procedures to follow up. I’m athletic, love watching and playing all sports, have a knack for sports stats. My sports specifically are soccer, lacrosse and swim team (also a swim team coach), and I play golf. I tutor underpriveledged kids on the side for volunteer work I’m #3 rank in my class but had 2 months of make-up work to stay on top. Parents and friends and school was very supportive, meant a lot to me. I was mad at times, why did this happen to me? Freak accident, etc. Feared for my life, had to stay strong for my parents and sister, etc.
