UNIT 3 BRIEF:
Mobility Networks
Continuing with the case study provided at the beginning of the module (Teamwork assignment U1), reply to the following questions:
3.a. Make a diagram of the different mobility networks currently available in the sector, identifying the main networks of each mode of transport.
Provide, if needed, cross sections of the main streets in order to explain the allocation of space to each transport means.
3.b. Related to the renovated buildings defined by the smart district:
#Descriiption You will work on this problem and built environment for the whole module. Imagine that you work for a private smart city consulting firm, and you are asked to deliver a renovation project in the neighbourhood of Balnagask in Aberdeen (UK). Your client is Aberdeen City Council (public administration). The neighbourhood is relatively well located within the urban fabric, but it belongs to one of the least safe districts to live in. The idea that you want to present to the mayor is to renovate the waterfront of the river Dee (consider the sector delimited by the river and Victoria Rd, see figure) to create a smart district, well connected to the rest of the city, with mixed uses, and an urban space that is friendly to non-motorized means of transport. Logically, the existing economic activities, mainly quays and warehouses, would be relocated to a new wharf that is intended to be built soon. Reflect on the newly-generated mobility;
Indicate which are the different mobility options available for their users;
Propose measures that could be taken when developing those buildings to ensure a more sustainable mobility.
