Write an individual reflection in English using your experience of the IDU answering the following question: “‘Theatre brings the past to life and helps us understand historical developments.’ To what extent do you agree with this claim?” It should be evident from your writing that: – you contributed to the play your group wrote and performed, – you engaged with the Statement of Inquiry of the IDU, – you investigated the social, political and cultural history of the Venetian Republic in order to understand the context for your play, and – you worked as an active member of your group, considering the challenges we are facing in this unusual situation. The play we did consist in working in groups groups, write a script for a play set in Venice. Italian Literature students: Your script should be 7 pages long and in Italian and/or Venetian dialect, as well as other languages. The play must include clear references to the period and place it is set in: you must refer to historical events, significant individuals of the time, as well everyday objects which are contemporary to your play. We incorporated the legend of “la riva del biasio” “Venice masks” and “the crusades” Include images of places, costumes and props. The interdisciplinary criteria your play and performance will be evaluated on are these: A Disciplinary grounding: Demonstrate relevant disciplinary factual, conceptual and/or procedural knowledge relating to what this unit covered in Italian literature and History. B Synthesizing: Synthesize disciplinary knowledge to demonstrate interdisciplinary understanding. Elements from Italian and History should be combined in order to create your play. C Communicating: use appropriate strategies to communicate interdisciplinary understanding effectively. The script that we wrote is in Italian
