Propose a book, artwork, or piece of media to be included in an upper-division California Literature/Culture course that continues to explore a “poetics of infrastructure,” and offer a 2-4 page rationale. Give yourself ample time to watch/view/explore your text before you write it up.
Rubric (100 points total):
Length (10 points): The proposal is 2-4 pages long
Descriiption (20 points): The proposal contains at least 1 paragraph that summarizes the proposed text (“text” understood broadly; assume an unfamiliar reader)
Rationale (30 points): The proposal contains 2-3 paragraphs that identify
1) which California infrastructure(s) the text is examining,
2) what argument(s) or question(s) the text raises about that infrastructure, and
3) how the text uses literature or art as a method of inquiry
Connection to the course (30 points): The proposal contains 1-2 paragraphs that relate the proposed text to one or more other readings/ideas in this course in order to demonstrate how the new text is a good fit
Grammar, spelling, etc (10 points).: The post contains well-formed and punctuated sentences
