Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of CBT case formulation, to implement suitable treatments for the consumer, and to critically reflect on the process, outcomes, and continuing learning requirements via a case study.

The assignment consists the transcript of a maximum 40-minute case study presentation (written version of the oral case study presentation). This session will involve a CBT case formulation and evaluation of a real consumer case study from the presenter’s own clinical practice. The student is not required to use CBT in their practice owing to their own competency, role, the consumer’s presenting problem, or the service type and strategy. In these instances, the student is able to mimic the case study based on their knowledge of a consumer from their practice. In cases when the student has not dealt with customers, a simulated case study can be constructed and deployed.
The student will submit a full case formulation and CBT treatment plan, as well as a summary of the treatment plan’s implementation and the client’s response to therapy (actual or simulated). It is sufficient to concentrate on one or two of the consumer’s primary presenting issues that are amenable to CBT. The case formulation should include a list of difficulties and the student’s hypothesis regarding the processes that sustain the consumer’s primary problems. This may be accomplished by employing the 5Ps formulation mentioned in the course material. The components of the CBT treatment plan should be related to this formulation. The student should detail their application of the treatment plan, including what was beneficial and what was not, with explanations as to why. The student will evaluate the issues involved in developing the CBT case formulation and issues with implementation of the treatment plan, including strategies implemented to address any issues, as well as how this experience has informed theory ongoing thought and understanding of CBT for clinical practice. This talk will imitate a case conference in which a mental health practitioner delivers a case study to colleagues or a supervisor. At least 15 academic journal and book references (preferably no older than 10 yrs) should be given on the last page of the word document transcript using APA 7th style.
