Many of Sondheim’s notable songs come from Sweeney Todd. For this module, you will need to view the movie of Sweeney Todd and write a critique of each song. For each song answer these three questions – What did you hear? (Dark or bright sound, instruments, lyrics, etc.) If Stephen Sondheim says all songs must be necessary in a musical for it be a “successful song” then why is this song necessary to the story. How does it progress the story? What did you like or dislike about it? Why?You can answer these questions in list form as it looks above or paragraph form. Just be sure to write the title of each song.You will find more detail at end of the introduction. Make sure you finish it after read the module materials and meet all requirements.
