Discussion post #1:
Should abortion be illegal?
Abortion being legal today is beneficial I believe. Usually, when women have an abortion it is because of various reasons such as low income, being in school, and being very young that can come with a lot of complications, not only for the child but for the person carrying the baby as well. People do not take these reasons into consideration before judging someone about them having an abortion. There is this saying called “My Body My Choice” meaning women are allowed to do whatever they please with their body and no one has control over that, I very much do agree with that because everything you do in life should be for you and only you. Not only does that mean abortion but any decision you make for yourself, man or woman should be in your best interest.
If abortion was illegal, I feel this is taking someone’s rights away, I do not feel there should be a law saying a woman has to keep their child no matter the circumstances they are facing. People think it should be illegal because even if its a small fetus its still going to grow up into a human, the other percent of people who believe it should be illegal determine that by their feelings (Paiva, 2022). There are people who believe you should not get pregnant or think about it before, instead of terminating a baby. People who believe abortion should be illegal are “pro-life” for the child and feel there should not be options to terminate a baby.
According to the Guttmacher Institute, 75% of abortion patients in the United States are poor or low-income, and sixty percent are in their twenties (Paiva, 2022).

Discussion Post #2:
Q: The goal of this discussion is not to convince you to accept one position over the other, but to help you to understand both sides.
A: Understanding both sides can be difficult as a woman. People who identify as pro-choice believe that everyone has the basic human right to decide when and whether to have children. Many anti-abortion/pro life people dont believe that pregnant people should be able to choose abortion under any circumstances, even if their pregnancy is a result of rape or if carrying the pregnancy to term puts their life in danger (plannedparenthood, 2022).
Q: Should abortion be illegal?
No, abortion should not be illegal. Decisions about whether to choose adoption, end a pregnancy, or continue a pregnancy should be made by a pregnant person. When thinking about illegal abortion, the only life many of them are concerned with is the life of the fertilized egg, embryo, or fetus. They are much less concerned about the life of women who have unintended pregnancies or the welfare of children after theyre born. Illegal abortion is forcing a person to give birth against their will.
