This is based on my discussion of what “gaming” and “playing” mean in the first place, to the potential value of applying literary analysis to a specific game. I want to specifically analyze the relevance of gameplay and game mechanics from a player-centered perspective.
DIRECTIONS: Complete an annotated bibliography in which you create concise annotations for 2 of 4 texts (one of which must be a scholarly text) that you will have compiled in the course of your independent research. While your research should focus on properly scholarly literature (academic journal articles, academic books, research data), in principle you can usefully annotate
virtually any kind of text, regardless of its credentials, medium, or subject matter. Each annotation must include the following information:
A concise summary of the author’s project
– A brief explanation of how the author develops his thesis
– An informed descriiption of the purpose of the work
– A specific and insightful descriiption of the intended audience, based on clues from the
text itself
A good annotation is concise and to-the-point – this is definitely a case where less is more. Annotations should consist of no more than 5 sentences apiece.
*** PLEASE DO: like stated above, I need you to cite all 4 texts (in MLA format) but only create concise annotations for 2 of those 4 texts (one of which must be a scholarly text). so of those two, one must be scholary and the other one can be any kind of text.
